    Description

    1826 N-6 Cent, MS64 Brown
    Condition Census Quality

1826 1C N-6, R.2, MS64 Brown PCGS. CAC. Ex: Wright Plate Coin. Noyes' 1991 Condition Census for this issue includes coins that grade MS60 through MS65, a fact that places this near-Gem among the finest representatives of this die marriage. The preservation alone seems to warrant a full Gem grade, but the presence of several planchet irregularities in the upper obverse field limits the technical assessment. A remarkably well-struck example for the type with glossy-brown surfaces and a few stray carbon flecks on both sides. Our EAC grade MS60. Population: 13 in 64 Brown, 0 finer. CAC: 10 in 64, 7 finer (11/17).
Ex: Long Beach Signature (Heritage, 6/2005), lot 5103.
