Description

Full Brockage 1829 Large Cent

1829 1C Large Letters--First Strike Brockage Reverse--AU55 PCGS. N-8, R.1. Although properly attributed as the "Large Letters" reverse, the brockage impression eliminates any possibility of making such a determination, other than die variety attribution. Newcomb-8 is the only variety of 1829 that has star 6 pointing clearly left of the coronet point. One other obverse (that shared by N-1, 4, and 5) has the sixth star pointing slightly left of the coronet point. This error consists of the normal obverse design with a mirrored and incuse impression of the obverse in place of the normal reverse design. Light olive-brown color with hints and splashes of darker brown color. An attractive piece, and a highly desirable large cent error. EAC 30.(Registry values: N491)
