Description
Condition Census 1830 N-1 Cent
1830 1C Large Letters MS64 Brown NGC. MS60+ EAC. N-1, Intermediate Die State, R.1. The N-1 variety of this year is usually recognized by the nearly complete inner circle that is broken only below the 18 of the date. It is also one of the three most common 1830 large cent varieties, and is easy to locate in all grades up to MS60. Both sides have prominent flowlines along the border, with the obverse inner circle starting to merge with the rim. A light die crack starts over star 1 and ends over star 3, piercing the outer points of the second star. This is a Condition Census example of the variety, and would be tied for third finest in Del Bland's notes if he had seen the coin. The obverse has very deep olive-brown color with steel toning and considerable pale orange mint color around the stars and devices. The reverse is darker-steel brown with faded mint red.Ex: Ed Overholt, FUN Convention (privately, 1/84).(#1672) (Registry values: N1793)
