Description

Stunning 1831 N-3 from "The South Shore Hoard"

1831 N-3, R.1. Sharpness of MS 64 Red and Brown, net MS 64. Tied with one other for second finest known business strike. An impressive and magnificent large cent that boasts fiery original red in the fields and delicate tan on the devices. The surfaces are pristine, and show nary a mark, even with the aid of a glass. Boldly struck on Liberty, but most of the stars are not full, typical of the issue. Identifiable by a minute spot atop the foot of the L of LIBERTY.
