1835 N-4 Cent, XF40
Tied for Sixth Finest Known
1835 1C Small 8 and Stars XF40 NGC. N-4, R.5. Our EAC Grade
VF25. Ex: Mervis Collection. This early die state cent has the
usual crack through the top of the date, extending left through two
stars to the border, and right through three stars to the border.
Pleasing olive-brown surfaces have scattered marks and a few
splashes of darker patina, retaining excellent eye appeal for the
grade. Noyes grades this piece VF20 and tied for sixth finest
known, although the actual census rank may be slightly higher.Ex: Superior (9/1998), lot 1566; Dennis Mendelson; EAC Sale (5/2006), lot 367; Chris Victor-McCawley; 2010 EAC bourse; Greg Hannigan.
