Description
Relisted 1839 N-10 Cent
1839 1C Booby Head MS64 Brown NGC. AU55 EAC. N-10, Usual Die State, Low R.3. For a full discussion of the listing, delisting, and relisting of this variety, see 1839 N-5, above. Once thought to be a late die state of the N-5 variety, it was proven in 1993 that this has a different reverse die. This is one of two similarly graded examples of the variety that are tied for fifth finest known, according to Del Bland's notes. Reddish-brown surfaces have a hint of olive, with splashes of darker steel toning. An important opportunity for the specialist; be sure to bid accordingly.Ex: England; New Netherlands Coin Co.
