Description

Scarce Gem 1839 Silly Head Cent, N-4

1839 1C Silly Head MS65 Red and Brown PCGS. CAC. N-4, R.1. One of only two Silly Head die marriages, which makes it scarcer than the Booby Head. Both designs were abandoned in 1840 in favor of the Petite Head, which was also struck in 1839. This is an outstanding Gem with smooth surfaces and good eye appeal. Mint red remains in design recesses. Population: 4 in 65 Red and Brown, 0 finer (11/07). EAC 63.
