Description

1839 N-9 Cent, MS66 Brown
Attractive Silly Head

1839 1C Silly Head, N-9, R.2, MS66 Brown NGC. Noyes Die State F/D with a faint crack across the tip of Liberty's chin that runs to the field below. A diagonal die crack from the L in LIBERTY down across the hair curls and neck to the lower curls attributes Newcomb-9. This Brown Premium Gem Silly Head displays satiny chocolate-brown patina with tinges of mint-red bordering the devices and within the recesses. Only a couple of tiny nicks on the cheek limit the grade. NGC reports only one numerically finer example in Brown (3/26).
