Description
Near-Gem 1840 Cent, Large Date Variety
1840 1C Large Date MS64 Brown NGC. N-5, R.1. Although regarded as Brown on the insert, there are traces of remaining mint red on both sides that serve to highlight the devices. The centers show good striking, but the upper obverse stars have an average strike. The surfaces are well preserved, with the only distraction being a couple small abrasions on the portrait. A spindly die crack is seen at 2 o'clock on the obverse. From the Peter Martinez Collection.
