Description
Lustrous Mint State 1840 N-6 Cent
1840 1C Large Date MS66 Brown NGC. MS63 EAC. N-6, State C, R.1. The die state is equal to Brown: 24. Recutting on 40 is visible but the extension of star 13 is no longer present. The central obverse and reverse are sharply defined, but all of the stars are flat. This example has excellent eye appeal with frosty luster. Dark chocolate-brown color has rich bluish-green and iridescent toning. The grade level just misses the Condition Census, but still places this cent within the top 10 for the variety. An excellent choice for the date or type collector as well as the variety specialist.Ex: Rarities Sale (Bowers and Merena, 9/02), lot 27, $2,415.(#1820) (Registry values: N1793)
