1843 1C Petite Head, Large Letters MS64 Brown NGC. N-4, R.1. Our EAC Grade MS60. Grellman Die State a. The sole Newcomb variety that mules the "old" Petite Head obverse with the "new" Large Letters reverse. As a singular Guide Book variety, N-4 commands a sizeable premium in Uncirculated grades. Toned lavender-brown overall with glimpses of olive and peach. Marks and spots are essentially absent, though inconspicuous strike-throughs are northeast of star 1 and near the left ribbon end.
