Early Die State

1843 1C Petite Head, Small Letters, N-8, R.2, MS65+ Brown PCGS. CAC. All of the lines and points described in the Grellman reference are clearly visible on this early die state cent. This satiny golden-brown Gem exhibits considerable original red mint color on the reverse. Trivial marks include a small nick by the lower lip that is the only mark of note on this Condition Census cent that is finer than the Dan Holmes coin that was called sixth finest known. Our EAC grade MS63.
