1846 N-3 Cent, MS67 Brown
Small Date, Repunched 4
1846 1C Small Date MS67 Brown NGC. N-3, R.2. Our EAC Grade
MS62. Grellman Die State b. Repunching on the 4 in the date
distinguishes this Small Date Newcomb marriage. Fire-red luster
forms a band across stars and letters, but the devices and fields
are gunmetal-gray. The strike is intricate except on the dentils.
Examination beneath a loupe fails to locate any detractions. An
unusually high grade for the type. As of (11/13), NGC has certified
just three 1846 business strikes in the MS67 grade, two as MS67
Brown and one as MS67 Red and Brown.From The Adam Mervis Large Cent Collection.(Registry values: N1)
