Description

1847 1C MS66 Brown NGC. N-29, R.3. Grellman die state b, as evidenced by the die crack through the top of AMERIC, but there are also the beginnings of a crack through UNITED, which is indicative of die state c. This variety is identified by a point above the right upright of the N in CENT, as well as several die lines through the E in ONE. Numerous other die lines can be used to aid in attribution. Although mostly mahogany colored, significant amounts of mint red are visible throughout the protected areas. The surfaces are nearly pristine and there is just a trace of weakness on a couple of stars. EAC 60+.(Registry values: N1793)
