1847 N-18 Cent, MS64 Brown
Large Over Medium 7
1847/47 1C Large Over Medium 7 MS64 Brown PCGS. CAC. N-18,
R.5. Grellman Die State a. The date is strongly repunched
north, most apparent on the 8 and 7. This is the "large over medium
7" variety, a similar but different (and scarcer) obverse die than
the N-2 and N-31 "Large 7 over Small 7" photographed in the
Guide Book. Undoubtedly rare in Choice Mint State.
Substantial orange-red fills the peripheries. Void of noticeable
marks or spots. Well struck except for star 5. Our EAC grade
MS63.(Registry values: P1)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 226D, PCGS# 1880, Greysheet# 1283)
