Description

1847/7 N-18 Cent, MS65 Brown
Rare Repunched Date Variety

1847/7 1C Large Over Small 47, N-18, R.5, MS65 Brown NGC. CAC. Die State a. A rare variety, commonly referred to as Large 7 Over Small 7, but with the entire date repunched south. This Gem example is in an early die state, before the die breaks form along the lower-left obverse border. Both sides show delicately preserved, smooth surfaces that display soft, satiny luster. The stars are well-defined and the central elements show crisp detail. Consistent burgundy-brown color reveals faint bluish overtones in the recesses when tilted against a light, and gives this piece a high degree of eye appeal. Our EAC grade MS60. Census: 2 in 65 Brown, 0 finer (12/14).(Registry values: P1)
