Description

1852 1C MS65 Red and Brown PCGS. N-22, R.1. Our EAC Grade MS62. Ex: Naftzger. Grellman Die State d. The reverse die cracks are very faint but perceptible with patience beneath a strong lens. Unabraded and lustrous. Both sides display sufficient lilac-red to secure a Red and Brown designation. Small tan spots are near the forehead curl and the left flag of the T in CENT. The obverse has an orange peel texture, as coined, due to flowlines from an overused die.
Ex: Stanley Kesselman, 5/1981; R.E. Naftzger, Jr. (Ira & Larry Goldberg, 9/2009), lot 1137.
