1853 1C MS65 Red and Brown NGC. N-25, R.1. The familiar variety with a "strong horizontal bar from dentils left of star 2," as described by Grellman in his invaluable reference. This chestnut-gold Gem approaches full Red, but the obverse border has mellowed in olive hues. Void of carbon and virtually unabraded.
