Superb 1853 Large Cent With Full Red Luster Still Intact
1853 1C MS67 Red PCGS. Amazing, simply amazing. Full, complete red luster covers both sides of this immaculate coin. One glance confirms that the color is unquestionably original. While the color is what is most fragile on copper coins and most highly prized, this coin also shows striking details that are as nearly complete as any we have ever seen on a Large Cent. Usually the centers are sharply defined and the peripheries weak, but not on this coin. Every star radial is present around the margin of the obverse and full venation is seen on the leaves of the wreath on the reverse. However, even at the MS67 level, this coin is not perfect. But the few defects that are present do not affect the appearance or desirability of this beautiful coin. This is the only MS67 Red 1853 Cent certified by either of the major services (5/01) with none finer.
