Description
1855 1C Upright 5s MS65 Red and Brown PCGS. N-4, R.1. This variety is easily identified by the two die "lumps" near Liberty's jawline. Medium-brown patina in the centers is surrounded by delightful rose-red along the perimeter. Traces of lilac in the fields enhance the aesthetic appeal. Several stars have weak centrils, as often seen, but the rest of the details are bold. MRB MS64. PCGS has certified just two Red and Brown examples finer (7/09).From The Thrifty Scot Collection.(Registry values: N1793)
