1856 1C Slanted 5 MS66 Brown PCGS. N-21, R.2. Although it is considered a common variety today, the N-21 die combination was not known to Newcomb before his reference was posthumously published. This example is well within the Census for the variety, probably ranking among the four finest known pieces. Incredible luster and gorgeous blue-brown color accompanies splashes of original frosty mint red. EAC 63. Population: 1 in 66, 0 finer (8/07).(Registry values: P1)
