Description

NGC 1857 MS 65 Brown. The final year of the Large cent and one that is generally available in nicer conditions, but scarce as a gem. By 1857, the Large cent was being slated to be replaced with the new Flying Eagle small cents, and thousands and thousands were traded to the mint for small cents as replacements. Lovely, smooth surfaces are graced with medium brown color and accented with traces of red and magenta. Population: 1 of 4, none higher (7/94).
