Description

1850 Twenty Dollar Liberty, AU55
Smooth and Appealing

1850 $20 AU55 NGC. The debut Liberty double eagle from the Philadelphia Mint boasts a mintage of more than 1.1 million coins, although no examples were saved for numismatic purposes at the time. Today, high-end AU coins are available, but Mint State pieces are scarce. This Choice AU coin displays rich orange-gold patina with remnants of luster in the fields. The surfaces are surprisingly smooth for the grade, with few singular abrasions.(Registry values: N1793)
