Description

1850 Twenty Dollar, MS61
Conditionally Scarce Issue

1850 $20 MS61 NGC. When it comes to Uncirculated 1850 twenties, many are called but few are chosen. This is one of the pieces that makes the cut. The surfaces are bright throughout, the only real interruption are several light diagonal grease stains that were struck into the upper left obverse field. Otherwise, the strike is strong throughout, and there are the abrasions one would expect from an MS61, but none would qualify as detracting. Perhaps the best identifier for pedigree purposes is a spot of grease that was struck into the planchet at the time of manufacture on the reverse above the rays and directly below the F in OF. Census: 28 in 61, 37 finer (12/13).
