1850-O $20 AU50 NGC. CAC. Winter-1. The debut of the Liberty double eagle included 141,000 pieces struck at New Orleans. Almost all 1850-O double eagles were released into commerce for the South and West, with few surviving uncirculated. NGC has certified only eight examples in Mint State (12/25). This CAC-approved AU50 displays vibrant orange-gold surfaces that retain much of its original mint luster. Typical of the issue, the central devices are softly struck and moderate wear on the high points denies an Uncirculated grade.(Registry values: N2998)
