1850-O $20 AU53 PCGS. Winter-3. Ex: Fairmont Collection. The Fairmont Collection produced an exhaustive list of new coins which collectors now have the opportunity to enjoy, including the present New Orleans piece. Observations made from the tallied coins indicate that just 126 New Orleans double eagles were found amongst the almost 380,000 estimated total from said collection. The present piece displays deep ochre-gold luster with hints of olive-gold throughout. A litany of minor abrasions and marks garnish the coin, but none prove overly detrimental for the grade. The strike is fair, showing some minor weakness in the expected areas and all but erasing the TE in STATES. The current piece represents an accessible opportunity for type and New Orleans collectors.
