Description
XF Details 1850-O Double Eagle
First Branch Mint Twenty
1850-O $20 -- Improperly Cleaned -- NGC Details. XF. Though
the gold-only mints at Charlotte and Dahlonega were not equipped to
strike double eagles, New Orleans was, and it struck twenties
alongside Philadelphia in the denomination's first
circulation-strike year of 1850. This example of the 1850-O was
cleaned once, leaving a number of hairlines in the yellow-gold
fields, yet the coin retains considerable majesty. Copper spots are
noted near the rim at the right obverse and reverse. From The Jeepy-Louise Collection.(Registry values: N1793)
