1851 $20 AU58 PCGS. This early double eagle has a thin mark in the left obverse field, while the balance of the coin has only trivial abrasions. With vast quantities of gold being mined in California, mintages of double eagles in the early 1850s were significant, although most entered circulation and were eventually lost or melted.(Registry values: N1793)
