Alluring 1851-O Double Eagle, Choice AU

1851-O $20 AU55 PCGS. Although common in low grades, the 1851-O becomes scarce in Choice AU and rare in Mint State. Nonetheless, it is relatively affordable compared to most New Orleans double eagles, which makes it an ideal type coin. Lovely orange-yellow patina drapes the surfaces of this minimally marked representative. Both sides exhibit delightful luster, and the reverse has captivating semiprooflike fields. Sharply struck save for a little softness on Liberty's hair. Population: 27 in 55, 25 finer (7/08).(Registry values: N1793)
