Description
Mint State 1851-O Double Eagle
Green Label Holder
1851-O $20 MS60 PCGS. Variety 2. Many Southern gold issues
have a glut of coins in the AU grade range of the various
population reports that has little to do with the actual population
in such condition but tells much about the gap in price between
coins on either side of the "slider" line. This MS60 coin is on the
better side, and thanks to the green-label PCGS holder, any
resubmission malarkey was kept to a minimum. This broadly lustrous
coin is the real Mint State deal, lightly scraped on the cheek with
a scattering of obverse abrasions but all-around desirable. Several
lines of medium-depth reed marks appear at right on the reverse.
Population: 2 in 60, 8 finer (11/12).(Registry values: N4719)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 268J, PCGS# 8905, Greysheet# 9844)
Weight: 33.44 grams
Metal: 90% Gold, 10% Copper
