1852 Double Eagle, MS61
1852 $20 MS61 NGC. Ex: S.S. Republic. A lustrous honey-gold representative of this early and conditionally rare Type One issue. Marks are scattered but individually unobtrusive. The 1852 has a mintage of 2 million pieces but the preponderance of certified pieces are in circulated grades. The S.S. Republic shipwreck surrendered 91 1852 twenties, per the NGC Census, but only 14 were Mint State.(Registry values: N2998)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 268K, PCGS# 8906, Greysheet# 9787)
