Description

1852 Liberty Head Double Eagle, MS61
Scarce Issue in Mint State

1852 $20 MS61 PCGS. The 1852 Liberty Head double eagle was produced in large numbers, and lower grade examples are easy to locate today. However, coins in Mint State condition are quite scarce. The present coin is a well detailed MS61 specimen, with yellow-gold surfaces, showing a pleasing red patina. The surfaces retain much original mint luster, and a scattering of minor abrasions on both sides explains the grade. Population: 19 in 61, 41 finer (8/10).(Registry values: N2998)
