Description

1852 Repunched Date Twenty, AU58, FS-301
Uncommonly Lustrous Surfaces

1852 $20 Repunched Date AU58 PCGS. FS-301. This obviously repunched date shows the usual weaker digits north of the primary digits. The surfaces show slight friction over the high points, but an unusual amount of mint luster remains on each side. Lightly marked in the fields. One has to wonder if the repunching was another of James Longacre's many mis-punches which were so prevalent in the 1840s.(Registry values: N991)
