Description
Pursued 1852-O Twenty Dollar, AU55
1852-O $20 AU55 PCGS. Among the more available O-mint issues from the first decade of the new Liberty Head double eagle, the 1852-O is nonetheless elusive in its own right. It is a widely pursued issue, but one where the search will occasionally pay off. This piece displays bright yellow-gold surfaces with mild field reflectivity. The strike is sharply executed in the centers, but soft on the stars along the obverse periphery. That side is also remarkably mark-free. The reverse displays two diagonal contact marks, one on the lower shield, one through the TW in TWENTY. Population: 30 in 55, 42 finer (8/09).(Registry values: N1793)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 268L, PCGS# 8907, GSID# 9845)
