Description
1852-O Twenty Dollar, AU58
Original Olive-Gold Color
High Grade for the Issue
1852-O $20 AU58 NGC. Winter-1. A single New Orleans die pair
struck the entire 190,000-piece 1852-O double eagle mintage
according to our most recent information. Original deep olive-gold
color blankets this nearly Mint State example. Doug Winter writes,
"it is scarce in properly graded AU55 and very scarce in AU58. It
is very rare in Uncirculated and extremely rare in MS62 and
higher." The natural surfaces of this AU58 coin display soft-gray
accents at the high points showing a touch of circulation wear. The
strike is bold and any marks or abrasions are entirely grade
consistent. NGC has certified only 32 numerically finer examples,
plus five in 58+ (12/25).(Registry values: N1793)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 268L, PCGS# 8907, Greysheet# 9845)
