No Unusual Die Features

1853 $20 AU58 PCGS. A splash of orange patina is evident behind Liberty's head on this lustrous Choice AU example that otherwise features brilliant yellow-gold surfaces. A slight die crack from the border below the 8 angles up to the bottom of the 3 in the date. PCGS has certified a small assortment of 90 numerically finer examples of the 1853 double eagle (1/25).(Registry values: N991)
