1853-O $20 --Improperly Cleaned--NGC. AU Details.
The 1853-O is a scarce New Orleans issue with a mintage limited to only 71,000 pieces, most of which entered circulation and stayed there. This piece shows the bright surfaces of a coin that has been cleaned; otherwise each side has deep orange-gold color. While most 1853-O twenties are heavily abraded, this coin only has one mentionable mark and that is a vertical abrasion on the cheek of Liberty.(Registry values: N2998)
