Description
1853-O Double Eagle, AU Details
Elusive O-Mint Twenty
1853-O $20 -- Improperly Cleaned -- NGC Details. AU. Variety
1. Significantly less available than the 1851 or 1852 New
Orleans twenties, circulated examples of the 1853-O exist to a
certain extent from the original mintage of just 71,000 pieces.
Uncirculated coins are rare. The current coin shows About
Uncirculated sharpness, but a few too many hairlines account for
the grade. A shallow scrape near star 2 and a mark near the R of
America are the most noticeable abrasions. The coin retains
pleasing green-gold coloration with a touch of luster despite the
cleaning.(Registry values: N2998)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 268N, PCGS# 8910, Greysheet# 9847)
Weight: 33.44 grams
Metal: 90% Gold, 10% Copper
