1854 $20 Small Date AU58 PCGS. CAC. Two varieties of 1854 Liberty Head double eagles share the reported mintage of 757,899 pieces. The present coin represents the more available Small Date variety. Only a handful of specimens have been recovered from hoards and treasure finds. The issue is scarce at the AU58 level, and rare in Mint State. Sharply impressed devices and radiant luster combine to produce outstanding eye appeal on this near-Mint specimen. Population: 29 in 58, 21 finer (10/09).(Registry values: N991)
