MS61 1855-S Double Eagle
Ex: S.S. Central America
1855-S $20 Broken A, Full E MS61 PCGS. SSCA 6262. Though the
1857-S double eagles that went down with the S.S. Central
America make up the most famous issue salvaged from that ship,
other dates were present in its official gold stores as well,
including the 1855-S. The present survivor, unworn though with
wispy abrasions in the lemon-gold fields and several marks on the
cheek, is crisply detailed with impressive luster. Strongly
appealing and immensely desirable. Comes with faux-book case,
certificate of authenticity, and blue outer box from distributor
Blanchard.
