Description
Condition Rarity MS62 1855-S Twenty
1855-S $20 MS62 PCGS. While this issue added a handful of Mint State examples with the discovery of the S.S. Central America treasure, the 1855-S remains a rarity with no wear. The origins of this MS62 survivor are unknown, though it does not have the signature Central America "look." It is satiny instead, with a rose blush on gold-orange surfaces. A reed mark on Liberty's jawline influences the grade, as do a number of less obvious (in many cases, downright wispy) abrasions. Nonetheless, this coin enjoys a clean and pleasing appearance. Population: 6 in 62, 2 finer (2/11).(Registry values: N4719)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 268X, PCGS# 8916, Greysheet# 9854)
Weight: 33.44 grams
Metal: 90% Gold, 10% Copper
