Description

Difficult 1856 Double Eagle, AU58

1856 $20 AU58 PCGS. The 1856 is one of the more difficult 1850s Philadelphia double eagles to locate. Mint State examples are especially tough to obtain, and PCGS and NGC have seen none finer than MS63. This near-Mint State offering displays a good amount of luster and is well defined. Yellow-gold surfaces are minimally abraded for a coin that saw brief circulation. Grease stains are visible in the upper left reverse.(Registry values: N1793)
