Lustrous 1856-S Twenty, AU55
1856-S $20 AU55 NGC. Only a trace of wear breaks the nearly full luster of this Choice AU Type One double eagle. The surfaces are light yellow with hints of green, entirely unlike the appearance of the S.S. Central America treasure coins. It is likely that this piece was in numismatic circulation before that treasure was discovered.(Registry values: N1793)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 2692, PCGS# 8919, GSID# 9864)
