Description
Elusive 1856-S Double Eagle, MS61
1856-S $20 MS61 NGC. Although relatively common in lower grades, the 1856-S is a rare and seldom seen issue in Mint State. This piece is well struck in most areas, with a few scattered bagmarks on each side that keep it from receiving a higher numerical grade. Perhaps this coin's most noteworthy attribute is its intense, radiating mint luster over both sides.
