Appealing MS62 1856-S Twenty
From the S.S. Central America
1856-S $20 MS62 PCGS. Ex: S.S. Central America.
Variety 17J (Split Serif), SSCA 5383. Though the vast
majority of the double eagles recovered from the Central
America were dated 1857-S, a significant number of earlier
pieces also turned up, such as this twenty dollar coin from the
previous year. Strongly lustrous yellow-gold surfaces show an
assortment of light to moderate abrasions, including two roughly
parallel lines to the left of Liberty's chin and neck. Comes with
book-style case, certificate of authenticity, and outer box, as
well as a paperback copy of Ship of Gold in the Deep Blue
