    Description

1856-S Twenty Dollar, No Serif, Left S
    MS63, Ex:
    S.S. Central America

1856-S $20 MS63 PCGS. CAC. Ex: S.S. Central America. SSCA 5620. No Serif, Left S. A bright and beautiful Select double eagle struck the year before it was put on the Central America, bound for New York but with the bottom of the Atlantic as its ultimate destination. The oft-seen pattern of "pale interiors, rich peripheral color" has a faint echo here, the color-shift more visible on the reverse but still pale. Detail is excellent, and aside from a sizable scrape on the cheek, abrasions are few. Housed in a gold-label PCGS holder and offered with book-style display case and red outer box; the certificate of authenticity is missing, but the PCGS holder is guarantee enough.(Registry values: N4719) (NGC ID# 2692, PCGS# 8919)
