Description

1857 Double Eagle, MS61

1857 $20 MS61 NGC. CAC. The 1857 is a scarce date, with most available specimens grading VF or XF, although AU and occasional Uncirculated pieces are seen. Yellow-gold surfaces are splashed with apricot and display well-struck design elements. Some light marks prevent a higher grade but do not adversely impact the coin's above-average eye appeal, affirmed by the CAC sticker. Census: 12 in 61, 14 finer (12/13).(Registry values: N2998)

Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 2693, PCGS# 8920, Greysheet# 9793)
