Description

1857 Twenty Dollar, MS62 CAC
Elusive Philadelphia Issue

1857 $20 MS62 PCGS. CAC. From an adequate mintage of 439,375 pieces, the 1857 Liberty double eagle can be found in most circulated grades without much difficulty, but the issue was not heavily represented in modern shipwreck finds, and Mint State specimens are rare. This impressive MS62 example features lustrous orange-gold surfaces, with the expected number of minor contact marks for the grade. The design elements are sharply detailed, aside from some trivial softness on some lefthand stars. Overall eye appeal is outstanding and the high quality within the grade is confirmed by CAC. Population: 32 in 62, 7 finer. CAC: 3 in 62, 1 finer (1/25).(Registry values: N4719)
