Description
Scarce 1857-O Double Eagle, VF30
1857-O $20 VF30 NGC. The 1857-O is scarce in any grade with a mintage of just 30,000 pieces. While this number is actually an increase compared to some of the previous New Orleans issues, it is many multiples lower than the typical Philadelphia output. Myriad abrasions cover both sides, as typical for the issue, although none merit specific mention. Pleasing orange-green patina drapes the surfaces and is complemented by well-defined design elements. An affordable example of this scarce issue.(Registry values: N1793)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 2694, PCGS# 8921, GSID# 9883)
