Description

Near-Mint 1857-S Twenty

1857-S $20 AU58 NGC. Overall this impressive coin is well-defined and brightly lustrous with just a touch of rub across the highest parts of the design. The light yellow-gold surfaces are minimally marked save for a few flaws on the cheek and an abrasion on the upper part of Liberty's hair. This piece was not part of the S.S. Central America hoard, since the mintmark location is further to the right than on any of the varieties from that famous shipwreck.(Registry values: N1793)
